I am a seasoned traveller and fairly used to budget accommodation. However, this was very poor value for money at $36 AUD per night.|When we were shown up to our bungalow (steep steps uphill but OK if fit), shortly afterwards we went outside to go down to the beach. We were greeted by 4 monkeys on the next door balcony that immediately came to us. We quickly realised that they were not friendly. Having tried to swing a bag at them to stop them from coming at us (barring teeth and hissing), we had to retreat inside. They then gathered at the window; it was a frightening experience. I accept that this is their habitat but some warning by the hotel or from their website would have been useful. A staff member came up to the bungalow and scared them off using a catapult! |After some discussion at reception, we then moved down to a lower room which was beside the murky 'dam' at the resort entrance. Needless to say, the mossies were rife, we had to ask for nets. Furthermore, the bedbugs were also terrible in one bed. Breakfast was basic and the staff not particularly welcoming or helpful. Wi-Fi only works around the reception area and be prepared for a 15-20minute walk to the town and beach.|Overall, I am sorry to say, that I cannot rate my stay here at all which is a shame as I generally have something good to say about most places that I stay.|
We stayed here for 3 nights, the accommodation was different staying in a hut and could do with some work. ||Some of the huts were quite high up lead by very steep steps (we were lucky that we were staying in a lower one)! ||When returning to the hotel on an evening the roads are not well lit just be careful as the road is very steep! ||There is also lots of monkeys you will see at the resort which is lovely just don't leave any food on your balconies as they will trash it.
Staff is correct, wouldn't say extremly helpful or kind but it is ok like this. The rooms bear with casual things, they are usually clean as well. Nevertheless, in case you are afraid of heights or monkeys don't come here. We were up the hill, was a bit exhausting to go up there. The monkeys can steal your things from the balcony, but if you are careful and like them, you can feel really nice here and in general, we liked to stay here. Nice view and fair prices.
I literally have no idea why so many people have moaned about this place! |It's full of character and great! Yes, there are a lot of steps but it's up in the mountains which adds to the charm so what do you expect. ||To me, Thailand isn't about the 5 star hotels, it's about places like this which are rustic and unique and make you feel like your in Thailand. It's basic accommodation but so what, but so what you're in Thailand so get out there and see it. Yes, you will probably get bitten - use bug spray. The breakfast was nice and did the job, but view over the island at breakfast was even better. ||It's peaceful, full of charm and if you're lucky you will get paid a visit from the monkeys like I did on my last day. If your bungalow is up high enough you will have a fantastic view too.
I spent a night in the aircom room in Maney Resort. For 1200thb/night I was guessing it is nice but well... Room was very rare in stuff. A wardrobe was not there - more like a hanger. Aircon worked but way too cold. Bathroom was very stinky with furnace in the corner. Reception ok. I will not go back ;-)
5 days no one clean the bungalow even no toilet paper or bedshits.|Insects everywhere. Bad smell and dirty bathroom. Breakfast was two option musli with yougurt or two eggs with two toast. For extra two toast have to pay 20 B.|Bungalow is located up hill and up tree this is killing for everyone over 20years old.|Only one person who was nice was the guy who pick up us from ferry.|Around this resort is wastewater so stink is very strong.|Don't waste ur money
It's not really a resort and is kind of expensive for the quality of the rooms. A lot of stairs to get to most of the bangalos and the place is already far in the island where everything is close. Wasn't a bad experience although.
Just back from one month in Thailand, phi phi was our first stop and Maney Resort our first accommodation. Sadly it poured down for the 1st two days. Maney is up a hill, and then up around 50 steps which turned into a waterfall in the rain!! Could be so dangerous. Had it been sunny the view and location would have been beautiful. No aircon in the room we paid for.
We only stayed here for 2 nights and have mixed reviews. |Firstly it's not all bad, the location is only about 5/10 minutes from the town and beach which is ideal because you don't drag sand back into your room. |Secondly, the breakfast is actually very nice, there's 3 different sets you can chose from and then chose different eggs etc in that set. |Thirdly, it's up in the hills but it's a good bit of exercise and it's not so bad honestly. ||Now for the not so good: |The bed is rock solid|We paid for a room with aircon and it barely worked, it dribbled out cold air when it fancied it and turned itself off and dripped all over the bed below. |The bathroom is a tad odd, it's had massive rocks built into it for some unknown reason which makes its much smaller|Lastly, no matter how much bug spray you use, prepare to be eaten in your sleep! ||Wouldn't recommend and wouldn't stay again but cheap.
